What is JUUL?

• FDA Authorization Reversal (July 2025): In a major regulatory milestone, on July 17th, 2025, the FDA formally lifted its previous ban. The agency cleared JUUL’s marketing device, as well as its tobacco and menthol flavored pods (at a 3% and 5% nicotine concentration). 

• The FDA’s Reasoning: The FDA concluded that the potential benefits of JUUL for adult smokers—specifically, helping them transition away from highly dangerous, combustible cigarettes—outweighed the risks. 

• Market Position Today: As of 2026, JUUL remains legally available for sale to adults in the U.S., but it is strictly restricted from selling fruit or dessert flavors. The company currently operates under intense regulatory oversight to ensure its marketing strictly targets adult smokers and prevents youth access. 

Difference Between Juul vs. Juul 2 

Moving from the original Juul Device to the Juul 2 is very similar to upgrading an older smartphone for a new model. While the core purpose remains identical, this generation solves for the previous-gen annoyances with a larger battery pack, more “fuel tank,” and some clever new tech.
