The Common Problems of Vape Devices: Fixing Leaks, Burnt Hits, and More

common vape device problems

Vaping may be an enjoyable, seamless process, but as with any technology it has its bumps along the way. Whether you’re a new vaper or have been using your vape for a while, some issues like leaky juice, burnt hits, poor vapor production, or terrible flavor can interfere with your first vape experience. Being able to identify these issues and solve them can help you make a world of difference to your vape experience.

In this article, we will share some of the most frequent vaping problems encountered by new users and, more importantly, we will offer easy solutions to resolve those issues

Leaking Vape Tanks

Issue: Leaking tanks are one of the biggest headaches for vapers. This can cause e-liquid to seep from your Vape device – creating a mess and generally being a waste of that precious juice.

Why It Happens: Leaks usually happen due to the tank’s seal, O-rings or coil is damaged or loose. Other causes could be that the tank is overfilled or that a coil is not installed correctly.

How to Fix It: Inspect the O-rings: Look at the O-rings on your vape tank. If they are damaged, replace them right away.

Top Tighten the Tank: You should come to feel the tank loosen a bit once it is sufficiently turned turned firmly onto the vape mod. Run a test or perhaps two with your container loose or perhaps overtightened and you are going to quickly recognize why it’s extremely important that it’s adequately attached.

Don’t Overfill: Don’t overfill your tank past the maximum fill line; it will end up overflowing. Just keep a small gap at the top so e-juice won’t spill over.

Coil Installs Correctly: Ensure that the coil is properly installed. If you don’t tighten it up enough, that can lead to leaking from the bottom of the tank.

Burnt Hits

Issue: You take a puff on your device and a dry, burnt taste ensues. This is also a frequent issue for vapers.

Why It Happens: You get a burnt hit when the coil cannot absorb enough e-juice to vaporize, and the cotton in the coil gets singed. This happens when your e-liquid runs out, or when it is time to change the coil.

How to Fix It: Check E-Liquid Level: Make sure your tank has enough e-liquid. If it is running low fill your tank before using so you don’t run out of your vapor.

Prime Your Coil: To prime a new coil, drip 4-5 drops of your e-juice onto the cotton directly. This in effect fully saturates the cotton and avoids burning of the cotton.

If this doesn’t solve your problem and you’re still getting dry or burnt hits, your coil might be old or overdue for a replacement. Simply change out a new one to clear out all the allergen and bring back your vaping experience.

Lower the Wattage: Assuming that your device has adjustable wattage, dial back the power a little to keep the e-liquid from burning too quickly.

Weak Vapor Production

Issue: Your vape produces less vapor If you feel like your vape isn’t delivering as much vapor as before, this is quite disheartening – especially if you’re a fan of blowing thick and fluffy clouds.

Why It Happens: There are various reasons for weak vapor production – a clogged coil, lower wattage, or inadequate airflow.

How to Fix It: Clean Your Tank and Coil: Make sure your tank and coil are clean from residue which can slow vapor amount produced. Keep your tank and coil clean to get better use of it.

Turn Up Wattage: Assuming you have an vape that allows for wattage changes, you can try turning it up a little bit to produce more clouds. Do not go too far up, or you can experience dry or burnt hits.

Check the Airflow: Make sure that your tank or mod’s airflow holes are open and not clogged with dirt or debris. Poor vapor is one of the direct consequences of limited airflow.

Replace the Coil: If you’ve been using the coil for a long time, or you’ve become aware that it’s already clogged up with crud, it won’t be able to vaporize enough e-juice. Change it to regain the device performance.

Gurgling Sounds

Issue: If you are experiencing a gurgling or bubbling sounds while vaping, it is usually a sign that something is not working correctly, and your e-liquid flow or air flow can be the source of the problem.

Why It Happens: Gurgling can come from too much e-juice in the tank, or a flooded coil. It’s also a signal that the airflow holes are blocked or that the tank hasn’t been sealed correctly.

How to Fix It: Check for Flooding: There doesn’t need to be a lot of overflow to cause coils to flood, remove your tank and clean any excess e-liquid from around to coil as best you can. I would wait for a bit for the cotton to soak the e-liquid.

Change the Airflow: Restricted airflow can lead to gurgling. Make sure the airflow holes on your tank are open and not blocked.

Don’t Overfill: Overfilling the tank is not a wise decision. Engaging in clear space on top enables a better air and liquid movement.

Leaks Around the Mouthpiece

The potential problem: Juice oozing out of the mouthpiece.

Why This Happens: This generally happens if there’s too much pressure in the tank or the coil is not adequately fitted into place. Vaping too hard can also result in e-juice getting pushed out through the mouthpiece.

How to Fix It: Do Not Overfill: Overfilling can lead to pressure build-up and leaking, just as with tank leaks.

Inspecting The Coil Seating: Make sure the coil is fitting snug and there are no gaps for e-liquid to seep through.

Regulate Your Draw: It’s best to avoid taking very strong draws as they may push liquid up through the mouthpiece. A softer inhale might help resolve the problem.

Spitting or Popping Sounds

Issue: If your vape makes popping or spitting sounds, it is likely that something is awry with your coil or juice flow.

Why It Happens: It’s most often caused by over flooding the coil (wicking too much ejuice) or by the coil not being heated properly which creates pockets of e-liquid which result in spit back.

How to Fix It: Allow Your Coil to Soak: Ensure your new coil has been sufficiently saturated by e-liquid before you use it. Prime your coil well.

Lower Wattage: If you are using a higher wattage, the liquid may vaporize too fast, leading to popping. Lowering the wattage can solve this problem.

Conclusion

Common issues such as leaking, burn tastes and low vapor production can be frustrating, but are resolvable with some simple troubleshooting. Taking care of you vape device, using it correctly, and troubleshooting it early can improve your vaping experience and help you save on vaping cost.

If you still have issues after using these tricks, you may want to replace elements or take a visit to a vape shop for expert advice. Happy vaping!
